Henna Eyebrow Tinting Tips: Dos and Don'ts

When considering a brow makeover, we often explore numerous options—from scouring the internet for the perfect reference photo to experimenting with different eyebrow colors. However, sometimes we leave the salon feeling disappointed. Or perhaps you’ve tried henna eyebrow tinting at home and the new color doesn’t seem quite right.

Here are some essential do’s and don’ts for henna brow tinting that might just save the day.

Conduct a Patch Test:

Always perform an allergy test 24-48 hours before applying a new tint, even if it’s a product you’ve used before. Allergic reactions can develop unexpectedly. Apply a small amount of the henna mixture behind your ear using a cotton swab. Leave it for 24-48 hours, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. If there’s no redness, tenderness, or other allergic reactions, you’re good to go.

Prepare Your Brows

Cleanse your eyebrows with a brow-specific shampoo to remove oils, dirt, and grime, ensuring the tint adheres better and provides vibrant color. Consider using MINA Brow Shampoo, which contains nourishing herbs. Right before tinting, wipe your eyebrows with a swab dipped in mineral water—or MINA Rose Water—to eliminate any remaining impurities.

During the Tinting Process

Mix your henna paste using mineral water or Mina Eyebrow Rose Water. Apply the paste and leave it on for about 25-30 minutes. Remove it with Mina iBrow Henna Cleanser. For a darker tint, wait an additional five minutes, reapply, and leave for another 20 minutes before removing again with the cleanser.

Aftercare

After cleaning and drying your brows, apply MINA Eyebrow Nourishing Oil to enhance the longevity of the tint and promote thicker, stronger, and more lustrous brows. Use the oil daily on both eyebrows and eyelashes for optimal results. To preserve the henna tint, avoid direct sunlight, swimming, and any chemical facial treatments for the next 24-72 hours.
